I apologize if this topic has been covered before. I've done some searches on this forum and have not come up with an answer that works for me.

My stock 1994 non turbo Legacy wagon with 5 speed could use some nice wheels and tires. I want to buy used to save some $$$.

I purchased a set of wheels / tires off an Outback, but they rubbed on the strut where if flairs out to support the spring. I didnt do any homework when I bought these, I just assumed they'd fit. :DUH:

I would like to run aftermarket 15" or 16" rims.

I know this much:
- Bolt pattern is 5 - 100mm
- Off set should be +53mm

What I would like to know is what tire size you are running on your STOCK Legacy's.

I'm not going to lower the wagon, just want something a bit more interesting than stamped steel and 70 series tires.

The Outback has a much taller tire, no surprise that it rubbed on the strut. A 6-7.5" wide wheel with 48-53 offset should work properly. With a 16" or 17" wheel , I'd use these tire sizes respectively: 205/55/16 or 205/50/16, 215/45/17.

205/50/16 is closest to the stock tire size, but the other sizes I listed are stock Subaru sizes for later cars and should also fit fine, but will be slightly larger which will throw off the speedometer by around 2-3% as well as slightly lowering RPM.

NOTE THAT THE 205/50/16 ARE A REAL PAIN TO FIND YOU ARE BETTER OFF GOING WITH THE OTHER TWO SIZES JUST TO SAVE YOU FROM A HEADACHE LATER DOWN THE ROAD. I CAN TELL YOU FROM EXP.
