what are some good tire sizes for 17" rims on a first gen

I have 225/45/r17 and I think they're perfect. Plenty of meat.

i also have a 2" drop. but i found out my neighbor is giving me 205 40 17 or 20545 17 snow tires. i just need a bit of ground clearance

205/45 would be ok, 205/40 is way too short. They are still smaller diameter than the stock size though.

215/45-17 is the stock lgt size. They will give you a little more room and fit better on a 17" rim than a 225, which gets a bit pinched on a 7" wheel. I have 225/45 Hankook v12s on my lgt wheels, and would not want a wider tire in the same size without going to an 8" wheel.

so far the 205 40 17s have giving me the clearance i need but getting 205 45 17 all seasons in the spring
