yeah i have been double checking the wire diagrams between usdm and edm. though the plugs on the back of both heater units are completly shapped different there is a 2nd intermediate plug on the edm unit before the dash harness. as long as my car has the same secondary plug it should go in right there, if not...re-wire time

You can get them on ebay uk or germany I believe.. Question is, does it hook up to the usdm hvac box properly? I want one with no ac. I think the base models had them here in the us.

well i dont have time right to to see if my stock usdm hvac has the second harness between it and the cars wirring. if someone can chime in that would be great.

i know as far as edm cars go, there is also a base model control that uses a manual selector, instead of electronic.

anyway i know it may be difficult to compare as most of the wires are just "color" labeled, but here's the diagrams for my stock one and the new replacement

Looks like it's close, but one wire that ties in to the wire going from the fan switch to the blower motor resistor on the european one (pin 12) isn't there, and there is a wire that goes to the blower motor relay on the USDM one (pin 10) that isn't there on the EDM one. That pin on the motor relay is just grounded on the EDM one. If you can get some shots of the connector on the unit, i may be able to figure out if it will fit and the wires seem to match up. I believe the secondary harness is just like the secondary harness in USDM '91 models. I got the switch plate out of a '92, and the secondary harness becomes obsolete, leaving the main harness to plug straight into the switch plate (I believe, but I haven't had a chance to get it put in because I'm lazy).

ill take some pics up tomorrow..i noticed the minor ground difference, but wasnt sure if its because one has an "off" button , and the other uses a "0 speed" on the fan selector

That connector is much bigger than the one on my '92 board. It may be the same as the '91 connector, in which case you could probably use that harness adapter thingy. I'll check it out, and maybe even throw my '92 piece in and have the harness off mine available for experimentation.

Can you get a pic of that white connector unplugged? '91 had a larger connector similar to either the white or yellow one on that unit. This plugged into another connector which I believe is the same as '92-'94 (need to get mine in to say for sure). If I am correct, you would plug your harness into the '91 pigtail, then either into the unit, or the pigtail off of there. I will try to get it tore down this weekend to get some more info for you.

Yeah I'm gonna do that too! Thanks for the idea. The antistatic kit i mentioned above looks like it could be fitted to any subaru. I'm sure you've seen this, but for reference: http://northursalia.com/modifications/i ... tatic.html
