Do you remember what head gasket was used for the 25d heads on the 22t? Bonus question, what compression ratio did you end up with?

He's a good buddy of mine. Pretty sure he used the 22t gasket to match the block. Not sure on the ratio

The ej22t gasket doesn't match the coolant ports of the 25d heads.

I think they match but not exactly.

The 22t hg coolant holes don't line up perfectly, but do work, as evidenced by the numerous SS owners over the years who have used that combo.

The main problem with the 22t shortblock is the pistons protrude above the surface of the block, so you are stuck with the thicker HG's and a low CR. Swapping in aftermarket pistons does bring the CR back up, however.

Mike, what pistons would you use to bring the CR back up?

I used wisecos from this website:

http://www.nolimitmotorsport.com/wiseco ... ubaru.html

I have some +0.040 over ones sitting on the shelf waiting for me to build an engine with, and I've used +0.020 oversize ones in a different block. I recommend getting the 0.020 ones unless your block absolutely needs the larger ones: something your machinist would tell you upon inspecting the block.

Prices are the best I've seen on that site.
