Making strides

Post by 93forestpearl »

Well, the last week has been good to my car. Finally some new rollers and got the fenders on, after they hung from the wall for 8
months. Hit the silver panels with some rusoleum out of a decent gun. Needless to say, the car looks a lot different now. It just needs larger tires. 205/40/17's just don't cut it. Good thing they were really cheap. I'm thinking some Direzza Z1 Star Specs in a 215/45/17 :smt112

It is amazing how better something can look with a little TLC. Nice work doesn't even look like the same car.

That looks pretty damn good for being Rustoleum. Really wish I had access to a decent gun, now!

If my buddies HVLP wasn't here, I would have used the $40 Northern Tool gun I also have here. That thing does pretty well to, especially for the price.

I just need to fix the rust to paint it for real. All the doors and hood need to be replaced anyways, so thats why I sprayed them. Fixing the rust will be quite the adventure though. The rear quarters and rockers are anything but choice.

I want to stay with the factory color since it is indeed very rare. Forest Pearl was only sprayed in 1993, and I've never seen another in MN.

Thanks for the feedback guys. :D

I'm surprised no one has asked what kind of wheels those are. They look kind of like Kosei K3s.

They indeed are the Kosei K3's. I'm liking the lightness at 17.5 lbs. Loosing about 8 lbs per wheel makes an amazing difference on how the car feels. Those Mille Miglia's were tanks at about 25lbs or more for a 16x7.5. I'm a bit disappointed about the uni-lug though. The pics they show don't have all the holes cut.

Nope, just a standard turbo hood. I guess you could say its a bit of a poser since the car is technically just an "L". The hood pins are there since I cut out the hood latch and center support to fit my intercooler behind the headlights. You can see it in the pic with the front end all apart.

If I'm not misunderstanding... you're saying you had to have the holes drilled to fit the K3's onto your car?

No, they are 5x100 and 5x114.3. I was hoping that they would be 5x100 only, and not have 5 extra holes drilled in them. Its not the end of the world.

Ah. That's alright then. This is one of the sets that I'm considering for my summer upgrade. I kind of like the look of having all the holes. :P

Thanks.

ok wait. forest pearl black?

is that the color?
i mean maybe i'm high or something but it looks black/really dark green.
forest pearl black doesn't seem to make sense to me.

it could be that i'm using a shitty internet browser called IE.

i like the wheels though, and wowee what a transition!
nice job!

Forest Pearl is a really really dark green. Color code 278 or 078 depending on if you go by the tag on the car or the dealer book. You can see it in the pic of the fenders on the ground. Unless there is direct sunlight on the car it looks black. I painted the silver panels (hood, bumper cover, driver door, back pass door) black just to make the car not such an eyesore. That and it costed $8.99.
