Ahhh, at last, the real deal! Very nice car. I've never seen one outside of factory brochures.

Where do you live?

I live in New Zealand, we get all the special models as we don't have our own manufacturer.

Before this i owned a series 1 RS type R, which as you may know is basically an RS with out power options.

I've always wanted a RS type RA but most i looked at were in pretty poor shape until this one showed up in storage.

It was for sale, about 2 years ago. Had different rims on it back then.

Has all the RA OE equipment (close ratio gearbox, quick steering rack, Handcrafted engine, sump bash plate) the engine was rebuilt 75k ago took ages as the ex-owner wanted original parts from Japan (Semi forged pistons)

VOS 16 bit eprom (switchable)
Steve Murch hybrid IHI VF8 (Ported comp/exhaust housings Bluprinted and enlarged turbine)
Group A dump pipe
3" exhaust to 4" N1 muffler (108.9 decibels= illegal)
Custom cold airbox
Coffee cup intake pipe
Bosch high energy external iginition coil conversion
Wilson 10mm race wound leads

Tein super street adjustable coilovers
Whiteline 22mm adjustable rear swaybar with HD Links
Whiteline anti lift kit
Whiteline HD front swaybar links
Whiteline steering rack bushes
Cusco front subframe brace
STI carbon fibre strutbrace
Rear strutbrace

4 pot caliper conversion
Goodridge braided brake lines
Cusco brake master cylinder brace.

I would rather not modify it much past this point, and has been my intention to buy another vehicle to play with.

Early Tidy/mint Legacy's are really starting to pick up in price let alone a rare version like this one.

North island, Lower Hutt Valley, Wellington.

Speedline type 2013 picked them up for $600nz with tyres.

They are worth heaps new but so many WRX's that were imported here had them, not a popular look so they get sold on for stuff all.

I did look around for the 2010 which were fitted to the Legacy WRCar

When i found some i decided i did'nt like them after all and went with these which were synonymous with the Impreza WRCar.

Nice mod list. We've only gotten a few RS-RA motors and half-cuts here, so they're quite rare in the States... I got hold of one of them and installed it in my '91, with a mod list quite similar to yours; apart from the transmission (I still have the original 3.90 5MT) I have a reasonable imitation  but with a 2.5L block.

Thanks for the pictures, it's great to see a well cared-for example... keep up the good work, and welcome to the board!

Beautiful RS-RA!!

I'm originally from New Zealand too (Timaru)...so I have gotten to see all of the beauty cars over there...

My uncle (who lives in Auckland) used to have a bitchin' black 90 RS that was all pimped out and had exhaust that made the baby Jesus cry!

I need to get my ass over there sometime soon for a visit!

Thanks guys, Stipro,i have many times done paekakariki hill rd among many others.

Although i'd rather put it away in storage but i love driving it.

I've tuned it for response and handling without getting stupid,
so many cars over here are so poorly thought out and setup.

Next year i will enter into some closed sealed road events and eventually the New zealand Targa.

Aerotech, i've seen your ride sometime ago; in performance terms the RA engine is not really that great, but in a nostalgic sense it is and for the time it was.

As you know each crank was signed by the mechanic who put it together, the heads hand ported etc sure they are Hydraulic lifter types and a bitch to maintain but it's an originalty factor.

So simply put: "I want!!!!!!"
I have to agree with Matt on this one, that is pure rolling sex right there! Thank you for the large images because they will be my computer monitor's background for some time!

*major droolage!*

The only thing I have to question is the eBay generic manual boost controller. Do you feel safe trusting that over a brand name model?

SO the 91's, the RS RA looked like a facelift 92-94? Or is it because it is an extremly late model 91?

IIRC, everywhere but North America got the facelift as a '91.

A '94 in most other countries was a BD/BG. Same with Imprezas, an '01 is a bugeye to most people.
