I ordered the Spraymax paint from Eastwood, but I don't think they carry it anymore.

A couple of pics so that you can see the color of the wheels.
You really can't see the shine in the close up due to it being completely overcast outside.

If you have the same rims, there is already a white powdercoat underneath the silver which is what you see on the black '92...if you want to get them powdercoated, I'm guessing you'll have to strip the white powdercoat off with a sand or soda blaster? I don't really know, but the next step for my rims is powdercoating the silver on if my paint job ever fails. I scuffed up the white powdercoat and painted over it just as the factory did. I also bought new shiny lugnuts from Summit Racing.

If you do re-do the wheels, let us see the car when you get done! Those other rims look pretty good too though!

I'll start with the supplies you listed Drew then pick a weekend for the wheels. right now I'm working on a few fixes that need to be taken care of with the car. sunroof leak, some type of clicking relay or switch before starting the car and lost of power when turning shape turns.

Yeah, I would probably have to fix those problems first too! By the way, what part of South Florida do you live in?

This passed weekend was the first oil change since buying the SS. She got fresh Castrol 5w-30 synthetic and a mobile 1 filter.

remove the stock oil pan plug and installed a fumoto valve

How much was the valve and where did you get it? I think I was gonna buy one but they were too expensive for me.

For the powersteering, get a bottle of Trans-x its a blue bottle. It works really well, its not thick either its like water. Stopped all the leaks in my powersteering system.

I have similar oil leaks, looking forward to replacing all my timing covers, cam, crank, oil pump seals and resealing, belt, idlers...

i'll have to check that product out, from the looks of it the steering rack was replaced and whoever installed the lines didnt do such a good job. i got a few lines stored away for a rainy day lol

i plan on doing little upgrades here and there until it's finally time to rebuild the engine

WRX 2006 Linkage/Shifter upgrade

Post by SiCkSTi04 »

Haven't had the time to really post many changes or updates but here's what i got so far lol :-)

WRX 2006 Linkage/Shifter upgrade. All bushings were replaced with TiC's 06-07 5MT Super Shifter set, they have great prices and answered any questions I had.
Image

Started off by taking the shift knob and surrounding trim.
Image
Image

Removing the shifter return spring, 12mm nut and washer that holds the front linkage bushing.
Image
Image
Image

Using a punch was too short to get my hammer in there so i used a wrench extension that worked pretty well, moving the front bushing gave me more access.
Image
Image

Removing the rear shifter mount was done using a 12mmwith extension, 2 bolts hold it in place.
Image
Image

The replacement short shifter and rear bushing.
Image
Image

The WRX linkage joint didn't come with the external return spring hole like our cars did and I really wanted to take advantage of the upgrade bushings. After reading, talking to TiC, they recommend me drilling a 1/4 size hole in the same location of the older design. It worked like a charm!

Love the upgrade and couldn't be any happier with the route I went. More upgrades to come very soon.

What I did was simply apply Mothers Protectant to a microfiber towel and work it in. plus It doesn't leave a oily surface.
Works on rubber, vinyl, plastic, fiberglass, dashboards, bumpers, trim, tires etc
