Fuck LSD's haha. welded is so much more predictable and will never wear out. and I've seen a rwd gc with a r180 do some huge one tire fires.

they sure are, they are designed to work decent on a AWD car, so they are no where strong enough to last RWD

Haha, one tire fire! Lol. Doesn't welding it kinda defeat the point of going to r180? Or did u do it for the beefier axles only? Man I will try to be at pgp cz I'd love to see ur car in person. But its memorial day weekend here in the states, and EVERYONE goes camping! Y u make it difficult?? Lolz

You can always rebuild the R180, and if you want to, increase the ramp angle for faster lock-up.

Has anyone fit a Ford 8.8?

From Derek's and my measurements, the 8.8 will work, but with a fair amount of fab work. The rear floor will most likely need to be boxed, crossmember modified, along with custom axles. The end result would be worth it, but not if you have to pay for it all to be done.

Custom axles should be fairly easy to get as there's an established market for them. But I'm wondering what it would entail as that's my ultimate goal for Duchess. It would be nice if someone had some drag racing guy or someone had some plans that could be used to mod as there's a lot of waste in figuring things out. There are also complete independent rears that can be bought and custom ordered to fit pretty much anything, but they are $$$, though you would end up with a double control arm setup.

Anyone try an R200?

Derek will be fabbing in an 8.8 in the next year or so, so he should be able to share the trials and tribulations. We don't expect the R160 to last very long with an LS2 and T56 in front of it...

I think Stephen "wishicoulddrift" on nasioc, is now running a r200. He was running chromoly axles w/ a r160 but that got expensive REAL fast after breaking a couple @ $350 ea.

Whoa, someone's putting an LS2 in? But, yeah, that would be nice to know how he does it. Nobody here would break an 8.8 and the options for ratios or even type of LSD is almost overwhelming.
