LOL That was funny but I know how that feels. Very scary. That truck got real real lucky. It was really cruisin down that hill and dodged all those cars.

This is the reason I dont drive in snow. not because what happens when you drive in snow. what happens when OTHER people drive in snow.

Florin was thqy from Washington or just on YouTube. That shit was intense, I dont understand why people have to drive in conditions like that. It didn't even look that steep but I guess it was enough. Great day for towing companies.

wow, i drive as a delivery driver in alaska with my three legacys and thats is one of the worst roads i've seen. I'm sure most or all didn't have winter tires on. In utah do they carry studded tires? I've lived in alaska forever and forget that some places don't have tire change over season.

funny you should post that, my mom just showed me this video last week. my uncle lives on the 500 block just up from where that was filmed at. There was a similar storm last year when i was in Utah for a funeral and my 02 leggy wouldn't make it up the hill to my uncles house (doesn't help his house is at the very freaking top of the hill)

What's sad is that really the only storm we've had all winter. All the other storms snow fall was gone by the afternoon.

Some do, but snow tires were not the problem.

I live very near to where this happened. The road (400 North in Bountiful, UT... look it up on Google street view) is very steep between 900 East and 1300 East. The cars descending into the frame of the video are coming down a hill that is more steep than it appears in the video.

Utah drivers deal with snow every winter but they are not accustomed to freezing rain under snow. The storm that created the conditions seen in this video dumped as rain which then froze on the roadway. The snow fell on top of this ice layer, hiding it from view. The drivers descending the hill were f'd from the second they started down, snow tires or no. Even in dry conditions one has to ride the brakes coming down this street.

If you notice the only drivers who come close to making it (or who do, go Leggy wagon!) are the ones who respond to the conditions by using power, not braking. It's all good to laugh and make fun but really it should be a reminder to us all to brush up on our winter driving and not push our luck in sketchy conditions.
