Re: rallyak car's and journeys
You need to enter your Legacy in Subaru's share the miles page. You would have the highest mileage Subaru at this point. The current # 1 is 493,198

Re: rallyak car's and journeys
I haven't put my car in yet but I put my moms in.
I also had some time to work on my moms car and get some things straighten out. I ended buying brand new oem hood and upper tie bar, since none of the wrecking yards had one and the guys that buy them at the auctions won't sell any sheet metal. The upper tie bar was a good idea to buy new, I know the part is bent in all the right places and makes the job a lot easer.
After I cut everything off I straightened the side aprions so the new upper tie bar would fit. Now I'm waiting on headlights before I weld it together so I know things are fitting right. After some inspection I noticed the timing belt cover was broke and had a hole in it, so I pulled the covers off to retrive the pieces. At this point a figured this was the best time to change timing belt and water pump and all the idler pulleys, since I know the idlers and water pump had 200k on them.
This is how it sits till my next day off and some headlights.

Re: rallyak car's and journeys
Yeah, definitely better to get a new upper radiator support. Mine's a little tweaked from a previous incident. When you take the old one off, did you grind/drill out the spot welds, or what did you do to get it off without damaging the other pieces?

Painted it in a filthy garage, didn't even sweep. I need to sand a little dirt out but overall pretty clean.

Almost done, figured I should change the windshild. I couldn't see how my mom could see through it, maybe that's why she hit the back of the dodge truck she couldn't see it.
Also heated glass, I wish our cars had this option.

Business is down, I had to let go all my help about 4 years ago, just me my wife, mom and dad. Some times it's hard with the long runs in the summer, but we've somehow have been able to manage. I do know that the economy up here is better than alot of places and wadges ar higher, but the cost of living is little higher.beatersubi wrote:Could you get me job doing what you are (I have a Subaru)?

Re: rallyak car's and journeys
I changed e-brake cables yesterday and I think everyone should check them. Mine had rubbed all the way to the metal casing and water would get it the cable and freeze over night. I need to put extra hose in that spot to protect the new one.
I've been busy lately with everybody elses cars and haven"t had the time to work on my own.
Like this one.
The 4eat went out so I replaced it, and found that both cv's were bad along with wheel bearing, struts, ball joints. All the parts were free at took me a few days to swap everything over. Things you will do for family.

Re: rallyak car's and journeys
Last night about 2 am I noticed that my shifter was feeling loose with a lot of play and I was having problems finding the gears, when all of a sudden the shifter went limp in my hand mid shift and in neutral with people behind me with nowhere to pull off. I was thinking linkage and I really need to change my shifter bushings so i pulled off the shifter suround and my shifter came apart. I tried to jam it back on but I can't seem to get it on very good so I've been driving it with the nub. Makes matters worse, about 3 years ago I added a 1/2 inch to the botom of the shifter to make it a short throw shifter (which made a huge difference) and it shifted well but with a little more effort, now that it's 3 inchs tall its drivable but the hand is getting sore, I now have a short throw short shifter. I have 9 hours left on my shift my palm is going to be very raw.
