Rallyx Legacy rs

Post by JDMSLIK »

Recent vid from a WCRA rallyx, got 3rd out of 29. Gonna get around to a build thread eventually. Just picked up a go pro 3, put together a custom mount to capture the action. Yes, it was really really slippery:) enjoy!

What mount are you using for the gopro?

Also, just curious what your comment on there means by "paired to iphone"

The gopro 3 has built in wifi. There's an app for iphones and androids that lets you pair to the phone. Real cool cause you can see what the camera sees, control it and adjust your settings from 600 feet away. Downsides is there's about a 4 second lag and it drains the batteries on the camera fairly quick. It is great for adjusting where the camera is pointing (no view finder). Best way to use the app is use the phone as a view finder to aim the camera, disconnect the wifi camera-iphone, then use the remote control that comes with the gopro 3 black edition to start and stop the recordings.

The mount is just a custom pile of junk that sits solid. Gonna post pics of it after I get an edited vid together in about a month or so after the last race and a few icefishing trips. Camera sits about 10 feet off the ground at the back of the car.

Great vid, and cool camera position.
Congrats on the finish. I know its easy to have too much fun on grass and dirt and end up overdoing it and losing time. I can only imagine how much patience it takes on snow. What tires were you running?
+1 on the Gopro 3 features.

185/65r15 nokian hakkapelitta 5's, factory studded.

That ice was crazy slippery. All the apexs got polished quick. And ya took alot of patience and granny footing it around the corners to stay out of the deep stuff.
I find the other problem with ice is power does not help at all. I got the car tuned down to about 6-7 psi and it's still too much. You almost want the car to bog coming out of corners so you know you got maximum grip.

Wow, really like the contraption for the GoPro 3. Hope you put up more videos.

And for anyone thinking about getting a GoPro 3, just get the step down from the black without the remote. The app will take care of that. So awesome.
