HI,
Been thinking of doing this also:
Ej22e block
Ej25d heads (clover heads)
This should keep your CR @ about 8:1+. Stock NA pistons seem to hold up per others' experience.

You running the stock pink injectors? What fuel rails - EJ20G?

Its calculated at 8.6:1 on the dot.

Stock injectors, I actually built a set of 22 rails with 25 tabs welded to them, rails have mounts for 22 or 25 intake. Never caused an issue.

I'd reccomend everyone does the 22e/dohc combo, yields perfect cr yet 22e bottom ends and 25d heads are fairly common. Also performs better then single cam and also allows you to save the legendary closed deck bottom end our cars came with.

Only slight mods need to be done for turbo coolant and oil.. I'd build aother one in a heart beat.

What HG?
How did U run the oil and specifically the coolant?

I know the DOHC heads have an oil supply and not too tough to run the oil drain back into the valve cover, but a good coolant source/return isn't as clear.

Thanks

Yeah - I followed THIS THREAD(pg. 3)...I had it done on my '90 T-wagon...by a local Subie shop....and it leaked. So, wanted to hear about other options.

Thanks

I just came across an old post of yours (last year) ....didn't you used to have an EJ257 under those heads? And did you ever figure out your idle issue running that combo?

Yep had a 257 under a different set of 25d heads. Not the best compression ratio though (9.3:1). Was spunky but that motor let go before I figured out the idle issue. Ended up being an issue in the engine harness but long since cured.

New engine combo (97 22e block, 97 25d heads) yeilds a much safer compression ratio (8.5:1) also the stock ecu compensates much better with stock engine cc's
