Hi everyone, this is the journey of my legacy wagon and my bro's legacy TW (previously owned by MagicMike).
So i'll start off with my car, its a green 1992 legacy L wagon 5MT. I bought the car a year ago for $750 it had 130,000 miles on it. So far I have put 2.5 rs rims on it with new tires, Raceland coilovers, full exhuast and a intake. My bro's car is a 1994 legacy turbo wagon with a rebuilt ej22t, vf34 turbo, full CES exhuast, 06 sti tmic, and a whole bunch of other goodies, my bro bought the car off magicmike.

here's some pics of the cars!
Image

Image

we put new rotors and pads all around on the turbo, we also put raceland coilovers in :D

So this a 1992 legacy SS that we bought for $400 as a donor for a ej22t swap into my n/a, the car had 200,000 miles on it, the tranny was gone and the body was pretty rough.

engine is out !

this is at a local meet that is held every weekend

Image

this is at a drive in at mendon mass to see furious 7, a group called mass tuning held a car meet there.

So this is what we did today, we put a 06 sti tmic, and all new intercooling piping on the TW, to make it fit we had to do alittle cutting lol

Got it to fit, fits really nice in there, you can tell the car runs alot better and the turbo spools alot better too.

Nice and tidy 8)

also restored the headlights

So this the journey so far, with a lot more mods to come, and i'm looking foward to doing my engine swap, should be a lot fun cant wait!

So this weekend I upgraded my sub set up, my previous amp died. So now i'm running 2 12' Kenwood 250 rms on a mtx amp that outputs 650 rms, and i put them in a ported box, sounds clean!

My bro also made use of the weekend. On his TW the header was leaking where the header meets the up pipe, so my bro got a header from a 04 wrx. It went on nicely, but we saw that there was still a small gap where it was leaking before. It looks like someone took a grinder to it. To solve this he put two gaskets in, it helped but we just have to wait for his perrin up pipe to come, Hopefully that fixes the problem. also my bro ordered tires for his BBS rims he picked up cheap!

I don't know if anyone else rides, but we did some work to the 900rr, took the forks out to put new fork seals in, should be ready for the summer can't wait!

I like the fogs behind the grille on the green wagon. Any special fabrication involved with that? thanks

the lights themselves we got from the local auto parts store, We went to Home Depot and bought L brackets, then we cut them to make them shorter. We drilled holes in the rad support, and put the lights on the L brackets and bolted them to the rad support, I can take a pic.

Alright we got a late update, so my bro installed his up pipe and that fixed the header leak, we also deleted the A/C because it wasn't holding a charge, and we painted a couple things to make it look nice. And drilling out studs is really fun LOL.

I also have a question

I'm stuck between rebuilding my ej22t it has 200,000 miles or buying a ej20g and swapping that in, the swaps will probs cost the same, i'm just stuck between the two, i'm just looking to go faster lol. My budget will be in the $3,000 range, This will be for the green n/a wagon. Thanks!

You may want to post this as a separate question in the engine forum, but I think the ej20g engines may have more potential due to the heads and tuning options. It's a little bit of a crap shoot though depending on the upgrade path you choose.

It's been awhile since I posted anything, but I mad a pretty big purchase that i'm very excited about!

So instead of swapping the green wagon, I decided to buy a 93 legacy sedan with a 02 wrx engine in it. I picked it up for $3,800 plus some extra goodies. the car has a ver 2 jdm 5mt, turboxs tmic 4"downpipe to a 3" straight pipe  Turbo whistle for days! Its running 20psi on the stock td04, it also has alot of suspension mods. I have alot of plans for this car, I just ordered a radiator and some hoses and a tranny mount. Can't wait to increase the power output of this thing!

Honestly, I think your best bet is to go to a 6 speed swap.

What happened, I was on my way to the gym and I got on it alittle, when i went to go shift into second gear it grinded out and destroyed second gear, now i cant shift into any gear and it rattles so yeah lol. so whats the best 6MT to get for power?

I believe the 04 sti transmission is the easiest install. I too need to figure out how to get my hands on one. they're so pricey tho...

For what it's worth, after breaking 4 legacy turbo transmission I got tired of not being able to find another. I went to a local yard and bought an n/a trans and diff. swapped the transmission internals into my turbo case. The 4.11 seems to be handling well.

Not worth it when you can get a far superior 6mt for a grand or so more. FYI I bought and sold that tranny in the $700 range a couple years back.

Is the Legacy spec.b transmission any good?

I've heard it's one of the best 5 speed tranys Subaru made. But I don't think they have the speedo gear inside. I could be wrong. I haven't researched them much.

Did the spec B ever come with a 5 speed? All I heard of it comes with a non-dccd sti trans.
