Well, It's Done For (Massive crash)

Post by MConte05 »

So at the 100AW rally this weekend, my wife and I were setting some great times (Top 6) and pushing hard. Came into this corner a little hot, still felt in total control even once we tapped the bank, expecting a high speed spinout, instead found a hidden stump that launched us straight into a tree at well over 60mph.

Immediately after the wreck, asked my wife if she was okay, and well... the rest is history.

Car is completely done for though. :(

Yar. I saw that on reddit. Sad days. I'm glad you're both alright though.

Ouchie, did the steering column bolts bust or is the dash pushed up? I'm stoked you guys walked away from it.

Where on there did you see it? Link?

Not sure if we'll build another first gen. I've always had a hankering to rally a hawkeye.... and really wanted to get a 6-speed next.

It'll be a few months till we figure out what to do.

I said something on Facebook, but I'm still sad to see it go. Do rally bug-eye!

Right now it's looking like I am going to build up an 06-07 STI. Got line on a local shell for super cheap, and working with EcoTech and JSpecAuto to get an EJ207 driveline with 6-speed. Most of my other parts will work, brakes, seats, steering wheel, etc. Those are the kind of things that nickel and dime a new build to death.

Won't be ready till at least a year from now, no huge rush.
