I know where it is in the tranny but I really don't want to disable the vehicle to try and yank this thing only to find out no one carries it.

Tranny shops, maybe? Most transmission places absolutely abhor working on AWD trannies, ours in particular, so much so, I've been told to "Go F*CK myself" even asking for rebuild prices. But it wouldn't hurt to call and see who might have it....

Dang, it's that bad huh? It doesn't look like a tough job to replace it. It's on the bottom to the tranny next to the screen filter. I'm trying to get in touch with a dealership to see if they have it.

Yeah, I'd start there, at least you'd know the probably 'high-end' of what you can expect to pay..
Controls line pressure, IIRC, so I don't know what to even estimate on it.. :?

James,

The part will be different depending on when your car's manufacture date is.

If it was made before August of 1989 the part # is 31939AA020
If it was made after August of 1989 the part # is 31939AA052

The newer one lists for $107.85 on subaruparts.com

Nevermind. I don't know what I was thinking...it's right on the panel by the driver's side door. Now, would you happen to have a part # for vehicle speed sensor 2? It's the one in the instrument cluster. I threw that in just in case i am wrong about the number.
