Performance

Post by UuuPIT »

I own a 92 Legacy turbo (2.2 Sedan - Automatic)

I am sure you heard this many times, however, I am looking at increasing the performance of my Sub!

I am told many things, however, the common being I have a great engine that can handle upto 30 lbs of boost.

However, since I have an Automatic, I am told conflicting reports on what I can an cannot do.

Asside from a complete engine swap and exhaust, what can I do to increase performance without blowing my tranny.

Thanks!

Get a new tranny damnit! I think you can get them from a certain model forester. I don't really know what model but thats what my sister has in her 1993

Do some looking around. Your motor will support all kinds of power, however your tranny isnt going to like it. a good start would be an intercooler.

Replacing the tranny is not an option for me. I like the auto, and do not wish to convert just for the sake of performance.

I just want to know how much I can push before the tranny croaks.

Get an external tranny cooler, and put redline D4 ATF fluid in, and you'll be good to go.

get a auto from a forester XT. it has the killer 4.44 final drive ratio. makes for some very quick acceleration. and is pretty sturdy. no need to go 5MT.
