its time for a better turbo

[quote="-K-"]gt350, yup Reeve's Capri. That thing is a monster when the boost comes on. I should have guessed you were a 2.3 guy, nobody else seems to know about them Holsets.

yeah the DSM guys and Honda boys are starting to jump on the holset bandwagon as well. I'm excited to get my HX35w installed. I made a DP for it saturday and plan on installing the turbo and downpipe tomorrow. then i'll have to get my charge piping made for the intercooler. good thing I do all my own fab work or i'd be broke as hell. I'm going to try and put my stock t3 60trim (equivelent in size to a 16g) on the suby. figured it won't be too tough. just make a uppipe and dowpipe then install on of my many intercoolers and see how it works.
and the best thing about reeves car is it's almost all stock parts. 12.6@108. cant argue with that.

350 is impossable on a vf11.
I hate to do plugs for the shop, but. http://rallitek.com/products.asp?ID=543 ... =&ACC=&SP=
It looks to be similar to a 34, but they have their own turbines and housings. We havnt recorded any hard data on them yet, but the butt dyno tells me this is the turbo going on my motor. And, its super cheap.

I am a friend of Reeves as well, and have ridden in his monster
Are you running those times in a TurboCoupe??
If so thats pretty damn impressive, as those cars are pretty hefty
Those 2.3's are too crazy...you take like a $200 fox body car and a $300 junkyard motor and you are running 13's

I was talking about reeve's capri. thats his best run to date. yeah but I should be putting down some good numbers once I get everything on. i'm shooting for high 11's for now. pretty much is nothing is untouched. but I still have to fab up an intake manifold and an intercooler pipe from the IC to the throttlebody. you'll find that us turboforder's are a different breed. we dont buy stuff. we make it.555BCTurbo wrote:gt350:

well i talked to the nice pepole at deadbolt and i dont no, its going to cost me a lot for a tdo5h-16g made to fit my car, 775.00 american dollers. if that price was canadian i would be all over it.
what other options do i have for a turbo upgrade.

There seems to be a pretty big diference in what people say a VF11 is "good for" and what a "very small upgrade" td04 will make for HP in a WRX.
It's really starting to bug me, someone is wrong......
NICO, buy the VF30 you talked about and make it fit. It'll be better than the turbo you have.

I think the big diffrence is the heads on the WRX and the engine management. What the TD04 is capable of on a WRX and what it will do on an OEM controlled EJ22T are very different.-K- wrote:There seems to be a pretty big diference in what people say a VF11 is "good for" and what a "very small upgrade" td04 will make for HP in a WRX.

are you saying that a td04 on ej22 would make a big difference? or that it's not a small upgrade and the install is a pain?
I'm still on the stock vf11 and i'm not looking at insane power, just something a little higher then stock.

I don't think It would be a huge gain to go to the TD04 but it would be better if the claims of the "most" you can get out of a VF11 are true.
I'm not sure if the amount of work for the install would be worth the gain, for stock EM, and if you are going to get better EM you should aim for more power than a TD04 can supply.
If you just want a bit more power get your exhaust done. Get an IC on and raise the boost to just under the FCD. It'll make you smile every time you see an on ramp....
Also I was a pretty happy with stock power after I did the struts/springs. Like way happy, I still wanted more power but I couldn't hold back the grin at every corner.

i hear what you mean.
I recently did the suspension, and it's made a BIG difference, but i think i may try and lower it from stock WRX setup, for just a little bit lower centre of gravity.
With the exhaust and the dual stage boost controller, i'm having an absolute blast over the last week or so.
can't wait until in the intercooler is in.
lol, for shits and giggles i looked up the deadbolt site.
that 16g setup for the Legacy sounds nice.
pretty sure i won't be dropping $750usd at this time, but sounds nice none the less.

You don't need a stronger wastegate actuator -- you can put a spring in parallel with the existing one:
http://www.graphics.cornell.edu/~v/pics ... legacy.jpg
As to whether you'll blow the turbo up, you can just think of it as an equivalent to an MBC. If you increase boost pressure too much, then, yes, you could cause damage. But if you do it an appropriate amount you should be okay.

dame vrg3 your a sneeky mother#($)%, i like your style. my dad is going to lose is mind and kill me if he sees that hahah.
so if i have my turbo boost at 16psi and put that spring on will it give me more boost. for some reason i cant get past 16psi no more, before i could run 20psi with my vf11.

i try i try haha i have like five of them one blows put another one in.
ok i might have another idea, what about sending my turbo to dead bolt and getting it ported and the works on it, maybe they could put bigger fans in it, or should i send in my tdo4l and get this one done becuse its newer and might have better options.
vf11 or tdo4l all on setriods? what one would be better.
