Legacy won't start

Post by Cliff2.2 »

Started making a horrible sound (like a pulley was loose or a belt had broken). Checked the belts I could see and all were in good shape. Left the car in the mountains.

Towed it down on Sunday night and it's in the shop right now. It turns over, but doesn't "catch" to start. I'm thinking it may be the timing belt. Sound is coming from the front of the engine.

Sound plausible? Any other guesses?

Yeah, it does kinda sound like a timing belt problem... You could start by pulling off the side timing covers to take a look at the belt and the cam sprockets.
