Noob with Q's

Post by BlockerImp »

Hi, i came over here from Nasioc, as someone who now has a fascination with legacy SS's as the cheap but yet so much more sexier alternative to a wrx. But as SS's with 5mt are scare, i was wondering would it be more efficient to buy an SS and 5mt swap? or take a 5sp L and drop an SS engine into it. Ive tried searching, but i cant seem to find a true write up of the whole project. If someone could lead me in the direction to one, or point out some things it would be very helpful. My father has been an ASE certified mechanic for over 17 years so the only problem is time + $$ not mechanical know-how. I've only been able to discern that 3 wires are the only difference with swapping, besides X-members and what not. Thanks in advance, and im glad to be in the leggy community

As having done both...or in the progress of the ej22t swap. I'd definitely say do the transmission swap. I could've done two AWD & MT swaps in the time I've spent on the engine swap.
