Why metal and bearings cause bad things to happen to beautiful people.





So my wife called last night, right after I had my son in his PJs and a beer in my hand. "Honey, I'm at my mom's. The car is acting funny. It is all shakey and shuddery."

So off I go and drive it home with her following me with my kids in the wagon, me in the sedan.

So.......

The cogged idler pulley lost front and rear seals, and about 10-15 bearings, front and rear. One of the bearing seals got caught up in the belt and the belt skipped, and timing got way off. I replaced the idler, then found the tensioner pulley bolt hole was stripped. Fixed it with a longer bolt (1 hour).

Got everthing right, tried to start it up. No go.

1 hour or so later, figured out I had used the wrong mark on the cogged crank pulley (doh!!!!!!!!!)l

Then an idler pulley bolt hole stripped out.

Then one of the bolt holes for the two tensioner bolts stripped out.


So finally it ran.

4 hours later.......




Jesus, what a backbreaking stress. Only one of the stripped bolt holes may have been my fault, and even then, maybe, maybe not.

Criminy, what a day.

Oh yeah, then MY wagon broke a bolt on the supercharger idler pulley setup. Luckily, I could fix this fast. Finally an easy fix.
