Brullen 3" Turboback for a WRX. Comes with a high-flow cat and a test pipe with a cut-out.

I can have it for $425 shipped if I want it. However, I've then got to pay an exhaust shop to modify it. I'm looking for a little more performance, but I DON'T want anything loud, or anything that looks too different than stock, hence why I'm checking out this Brullen setup.

You guys think this is a good deal? If I don't upgrade my turbo, and I'm doing this for pure performance reasons, is it worth it (with only other mods being an intake, mbc, and TMIC)? What's the cheapest you think I could get this modified for?

I just did a couple hour search through the Exhaust forum on TBE's and I'm still torn. :?

I don't know much about exhaust, but 425 for a used exhaust seems a little steep.

You can read my TurboXS exhaust thread for what's inolved in the mods... a little bit of welding.

I don't know anything about the quality of Brullen's product. This one looks like it's all-stainless, mandrel-bent, 3", and pretty friggen dirty. If Brullen makes a quality product, and this thing hasn't been abused for mega miles, then that's a great price. In fact, I can't believe they are including shipping in that price because exhaust is bulky and a pain to ship.

Most all-stainless turbo back exhausts cost well over $1k new and a tad more than $425 used (if they are in good shape with not a ton of miles). My turboXS system cost $500 in parts (used) and that didn't include shipping or any of this cutout stuff.

For a full 3" stainless steel SHIPPED, WITH a cat and a test pipe? This setup was about $1,300 new...and it's stainless, so the age doesn't affect it that much.

Yeah, I saw your thread, and I believe it was the one that swayed me away. Didn't you end up paying about twice the price of your used exhaust to get yours modified and for new gaskets and hangers?

Like I said, I'm doing this purely for performance reasons. $800 for the gain I get out of this on our stock wee little turbo is pretty crappy hp/$. Haven't some guys put WRX exhausts on without any modification (so it hangs there, but just is a little short)?

Hah, actually, I did a search and read a bunch of reviews. Its supposed to be extremely quiet. That's actually why this guy is getting rid of it. :P He wanted something louder for his WRX.

Well, like I said in the thread, my shop is pretty meticulous. There are a lot of shortcuts you can take that would make it cheaper. For example, they fabbed up an extension pipe with flanges. It'd be much easier to just extend a section of straight pipe. For that matter, if you know a friend who welds, you can do the whole thing for free in one afternoon.

But you're right. 1k is a lot of money and definitely overkill for the light amount of mods you or I have at the moment. TurboXS has flowed 450 horspower through their system, but I doubt I'm even up to 200. I got it mostly so for insta-spool, but I also plan to make a bit more power. But, consider getting a crush-bent, mild steel exhaust custom rigged up from an ordinary exhaust shop instead of a performance shop. Go for 2.5" instead of 3" if parts like the muffler or cat are cheaper. Leave the cat out entirely if you aren't a tree hugger like me.

Yeah, that and twist the hangers around quite a bit (used the torch). And all the bending in the world wouldn't make the foward hanger on the axle back reach so I built an extension, but I think some people just dont use the that hanger.

The pipe extender is not stainless, 4" long section of 3" pipe and some flanges I made from 3/8" plate.

Looks good!

By the way, I'm passing on the exhaust. I'm picking one up that's already modified for a Legacy instead.
