Nature's fury

Post by 93forestpearl »

Went for a drive up the north shore yesterday. I stopped at Gooseberry Falls to check it out since its been raining for about a week and a half. All I have to say is that it was raging. I've been there a dozen times and haven't seen the falls like this.

And some video, in .avi format.

I don't have a before pic unfortunately. Right now there's about ten times the water going over the falls than say in the fall. Picture the lower falls (last pic) with small trickles going over.

All the other times I've been there I could see how high the water gets sometimes, and thought damn, that would be raging. Well now it is.

People used to swim in it but a couple people died, so the put the kabosh on that.

That's some seriously dirty water. Is there a lot of erosion upstream?
δ13/12C = -17.7 ‰
δ15/14N = 9.4 ‰

Its iron in the water, since I'm up on da iron range, ya know ;-)

There's probably some erosion since it rained pretty much for a week and a half.
