One thing I always wanted to do with that car but never got around to it.

You may want to get new bushings for the diff too, if you haven't already. I'm sure they're hammered after 13+ years.

Good luck with the bushings. They're the metal collar type bushings, which suck major ass to install. Whiteline does not make a replacement.

I'm not sure if you can even get sti bushings....rallispec would be the ones to check.....other option is OEM.

Turn In Concepts makes bushing replacements for the rear diff mount http://turninconcepts.com/product_info. ... ucts_id=17 , but they wont respond with fitment on our style mount, or even the diameter and width. You could always get the STi version, which is a whole mount.

The STi version mount which comes in a whole bracket won't work. I got one, and it is completely the wrong thing.

I'd be curious about the TiC ones....too bad they won't respond with dimensions, etc.

TIC's webpage says "Except for the old Legacy Turbo - we know they won't fit on these"
I guess we are out of luck.

ah tis nice to work at a dealership. lifts, jacks and airtools oh my. Got the thing in after work, and was pretty straight forward except for some bolts being very very rusty, like the impact gun wasn't even phasing them

I didn't realize that the LSD drive shaft connector part was different( slightly different bolt pattern) until I went through the process of getting lifted in there. Pulling it apart was slightly more difficult with it in the car.

Took about 4 hours to do with no help.

I dunno what happened to that car before I got it, maybe it was under water or something, because it's just a little too rusty. Glad to hear you got it in ok, and anticipating some feedback about the improvement.

Super Pro makes bushings for the diff carrier. We have some in stock. No idea if they will work in the Legacy though, but good golly do they look like a pain in the arse to install. I'll have to talk to Craig over at TiC and see what I can do about the bushing dimensions.

Would there be interest to have them made?

Yes.....what I was thinking of doing is trying to see what bushing applications between models & years are compatible, and then see if kartboy or TiC were interested in developing a bushing if I provide them with a plate & a new bushing to get dimensions and such.
