EJ22T performance vs. 2007 NA 2.5

Post by Dave G »

I have been driving a 2007 Legacy SE for almost a month now, after selling my 94 GT over a year ago. The difference in seat-of-the-pants acceleration feeling is still surprising. The Turbo used to absolutely leap foward and the new NA model has a very straight torque curve by the feel of it. It feels almost the same at 2000 rpm as it does at 4000-5000. It feels as though my 94 could take it easily at any speed. I know the horsepower but I have not had a chance to compare the torque lines and torque values. Has anyone else driven both or otherwise compared the two? I wonder how the acceleration times compare. (this new legacy feels very similar in acceleration quality to the Mazda 3s that I also drove, in that it never feels like it comes on cam or anything; the pull never changes much, just very steady)

The 94 GT wasn't turbo'd.

Did you have another turbo legacy?

The n/a engines are going to have a pretty linear torque curve.

Oops, I had a Sport Sedan. After a year and looking at so many other cars, I got confused. I had my eye on more than one GT.
