shemoves wrote:Are the dimensions the same? Assuming an IC or something else was not in the way, will any GC strut bar fit, or are you saying that just the strut-top mounts are the same?
The orientation of the strut top bolts and the spacing between them are the same. The slope of the hood, etc. are different. So a lot of GC bars are raised above the mounts and that will hit the hood on a BC.
So you have to check and see for each bar unless you know someone specificially has that bar on their car with no modification.
Yes, most GC bars will fit but *may* hit the hood.
As I've posted - the Cusco bar fits with limited modification (certainly less than producing an entire bar). Look for my pics in the picture forum and you can see the Cusco mounted.
I like the bar - it works well and looks tits too!

Can you show me in this pic, or take another pic of what exactly you ground down/modified on the mounting plates to get them to fit?
To use the Cusco STB, you must grind down the front upright on each mount plate. probably 3/16" off the highest point, blended into the shape of the suport member.
In the pic Josh posted above, you can barely see the ground-down area on the passenger side plate.
I will try to get some more detailed pictures.

Love the pictures. Josh your engine bays is so clean and detailed. It rocks. Now for the questions.
What pulleys are on your car Josh?
And where can I get info on the g-performance awic. I have searched several times and found nothing.
Thanks,
Jeff

Yeh I knew yours was a factory one. The guys down under ought to know what fits as those intercoolers came on their cars from the factory.
The picture you posted of the car with the Cusco bar had a G-force performance awic on it. Do you know anything about them or where to get one? It looks like it leaves some room in back, but is it any good. I haven't been able to find anything in any search I have done. Surely someone here knows something about it.

Resurrecting an old thread, I PM'd Legacy777 about his experience with the red SPT strut bar. After checking the prices, I decided to order one from my local dealer. They must be on clearance or something because I got it for just under $80!
Tested it on my friend Florin's car with an 06/07 WRX TMIC and it fit perfectly. As Legacy777 mentioned, it also clears the AWIC core, where even the carbon fiber Impreza one doesn't.

^^+ Tax in Washington for 1stSubaruParts and SubaruGenuineParts. That's why I bought it from a dealer since it came out slightly less than from online. It was shipped (not)overnight from Japan, took a week, lol. My receipt shows they charged me $78.
