Auto and diff problems

Post by stellaholic »

Hi Guys

I have a 1996 GTB the problem i have started off with the rear diff. The rear wheels were locking and skipping on tight corners. I have changed the rear diff and I thought all was ok. I then gave the car a fluid change engine oil atf fluid and front diff. The both front and rear diffs i have used silcolene 75w90 race oil full synthetic. Auto box has atf 4000 as recomended by an oil specialist. Ok the trouble i now have is there sounds like a whine from the front diff or box. This was not there or even an issue before the oil changes. Also the car has no power and feels like something is holding it back. The vibration is very bad the faster it goes It feels like the front and rear wheels are fighting against each other and when on un even ground because the wheels are fighting against each other it feels like the suspension has gone very hard(i think this is to do with the drive somehow). I am also getting the power light flashing 16 times when i start the car.

Any ideas??

Thanks

You need to remove the rear extension housing to get at the duty c solenoid.

Have you pulled the TCU codes to check what codes are stored? Instructions are on my site under notes & tips, trans related.

Also, you may want to put a fuse in the FWD fuse holder and see if your problems go away. That should help you identify whether the issue is with the solenoid or clutch packs.

Thanks for the reply. I have tried the fuse and it seems to be the same. I also have this worrying whining coming from the front end. The code was 16 flashes which i think was 2-4 brake duty solenoid???? what ever that is.

16 flashes is the default flash number to indicate there is a problem. There is no code 16.

You need to follow the procedure on my site to check the codes.
