Up for sale is a 1990 Subaru Legacy wagon with approximately 66,500 miles. It is a 5-speed manual, AWD, and has the L+ package, which includes power everything (windows, locks, mirrors), ice-cold (working!) AC, and an AM/FM/cassette radio with an auxiliary input to plug in a CD player or iPod. It also has aftermarket keyless entry.
This was literally a “granny car” (it belonged to my grandparents before I got it), hence the low mileage. It was maintained meticulously, and includes complete service records. It goes without saying that this is a one-family car. It has never been in an accident, major or minor.
It has a relatively new battery, front struts, speedometer cable, right front axle, and a recent tune-up. Oil has been changed on schedule. It does need new rear struts (they are leaking – this may need to be fixed to pass inspection), a new left front axle (the boot is torn – this may also need to be fixed for inspection), and a timing belt service. The clutch is hard to press and the throwout bearing clicks, and this may be fixed by a new clutch, but that repair is not necessary as the car drives just fine currently. The cruise control does not work. There is some rust on the left front fender behind the wheel (can be fixed if you replace the fender), and I repaired some rust on the tailgate and the fuel filler door. There are also minor spots on the rear doors and near the driver’s door hinge. There are a couple of stains in the back seat from kids riding in there.
This car is pretty much pristine mechanically and should be fairly trouble-free because of its low mileage. With that said, the car is being sold “as-is.” I am asking $1700, negotiable. The price has been lowered from the blue book value of $2000 to reflect the small amount of work that needs to be done.
