14s on turbo legacy? big no no?

Post by dirtyhandssubaru555 »

i was just told that i shouldn't have 14 inch rims on my turbo leg, do to the fact that they don't clear the calipers, i am getting some rubing sounds but only under hard cornering. the car came with 14s when i bought it and i haven't drove it much. so should i change to stock 15s?
my girlfriend finaly found out that i spent more money and time on my car then her. she was kind pist to say the least.

Yes. They rub when you turn due to flexing of the wheel. Regardless, the car will handle better with some larger alloys (within reason of course). I'm surprised they don't rub a little more than that.

I'm surprised you can even bolt them to the hub, although it really depends on the wheel. There are 15" rally wheels that will clear WRX 2 or 4-pot brakes.

pick up a set of WRX wheels and tires locally. That will solve everything. 16s with decent tires go from $200-300.

You're going to have to post pictures of this. There might be some crazy 14s that fit, but can you make absolutely sure they're 14"?

Folks may want a small wheel for less rotational inertia, which is why I have the stock 15's on my SS although I have 2 sets of 16" (Gold STi V2s, & WRX) rims & a set of 17" rims (ROTA Actions) in the garage. I'm surprised 14's even fit, but they may be tooo small if they are rubbing on the brakes.

15" Rally wheels that fit over 4pots & WRX 2pots are enkei's, & team dynamics. The enkeis are pretty expensive @ 225-250 per 15" rim while the TDs are like 200ish / rim. Just take a look @ rallispec site & they have everything broken down there.
