Well after a weekend from hell trying myself I finally got the STi
short shift kit installed by a local mechanic. Took him two hours and
had to drop the drive shaft to get the linkage in and out, Jason
didn't have that much trouble! =(. Oh well it's in and I love it, the
shifting is much more precise and accurate (in my mind). And I belive
I can now say that the STi/SPT short shift kit will fit any Subaru
Legacy manual after 1990.
On a second note I also put in a K&N panel filter in the stock air
box, and am curious about where/how to remove the water
seperator/baffle in the front fender? Any comments would be
appreciated.
Jay

STi Short Shift Kit (Final update)
Hi Jay,
you have to remove the front right fender liner (front half) that wraps
under and to the front bumper. there is a bunch of screws to undo. At this
point it is easy. Just unbolt the seperator...
Let us know if you feel a difference. On the turbos, it is a pretty big
intake, so I left mine on. I am more worried about sucking in water on a
rally...

STi Short Shift Kit (Final update)
Jay-remove the pass inner fender liner for acess to the water separator. The removal will increase idle to full throttle noise from you air box (I like it!). Unless you`re going to go `boggin`, you`ll never need it again. Good luck-ROD (No. Az.)

gotta jack up the car, unbolt the plastic fenderwell, and you'll see it. Not
hard to take out at all.
