More stuff on Rally car....

Post by Rabin James »

The car does have both tower bars, but I have no idea what the part number
is on them. They came on the car, so if the part number is stamped on it, I
can have Dave look at it.

The bar's have a pretty simple set up, I'm sure any machine shop could build
a set cheap if given the proper drawings...heck, most of the work you could
do yourself. The only tricky part would be the tension link in the center
of the bar that adds tension to the bar.

As for boost, I was told the previous team had run as high as 17 psi boost.
I found that hard to believe with stock fuel injection and turbo, so I
wanted to get the facts from the guys who know and love these cars. I
figure 13 - 14 psi max. What is the general thought on this? I would think
you can do better than 10 - 12 psi

About these air to water intercoolers....were these factory set-ups? If so,
I wonder if Mark and I could put them on our cars and still fall within the
rules of keeping the cars stock...from the factory. This would help us out
tremendously for getting more power out of the cars to compete with the
works WRX's.

I have changed the boost control system from the way it came to a more
desirable design, (basically bleeds the signal line to the wastegate), but I
wanted more control in the increments that it could be adjusted. The
previous system was way too sensitive, with huge changes in boost with
little adjustment. Hopefully I can have a larger more accurate range of
boost adjustment. I never got to test it however, so that will have to
wait. I may do some testing on my 86 GL-10 Turbo wagon though!

Thanks for the info so far!

Rabin
