car is hurtin, need help!
last week my car started acting funky through first and second gear, it would start to build boost then get all jerky and i would have to barely squeeze the gas until i got up to 45 or so then i could get back on it through third with normal boost. When I inspected under the hood i noticed my coffee mug rig that went from the air box to the compressor was cracked and a piece was busted on it. I macguyvered a cardboard electrical tape rig to get me by and that did not solve the issue. I have since made a new better coffee mug (silencer delete) and tried a few different things like replace the fuel filter and plug wires. Now its not acting so jerky but it is pretty nutless and will only build 5 pounds of boost. Could it be a maf or tps issue? I have no cel so I am worried that the missing piece from my old ghetto rig got into my turbo and messed it up. I want to upgrade my turbo anyways so I'm not too upset if i this ones shot, i just wanna get this thing running well again

Sounds similar to my problem, except it goes through all gears...
The main suggestion for my problem was to check the plug wires and/or replace them. But my car is also running rich, which ruled out a fuel filter problem, which I heard from a mechanic could also cause this symptom. So since those didn't help you...

Did you reset the ECU after fixing the problem? If not, it probably just remembers all the knocking from the bad air/fuel mixture, so it's reduced spark advance and boost.
If this is what happened, you can either reset the ECU, or wait for it to figure out things are okay on its own.

well if you're only getting five pounds of boost (which is the wastegate spring pressure) and you don't have a CEL, that would lead me to believe that your boost control solenoid isn't working correctly. you can easily fix this by buying a MBC.
maybe someone else can chime in on this thought...

still running poorly, before i took the intake piping apart and re-did the coffee mug the car was jerky and i had to feather the gas till third gear, but after that boost came on fine. now its just 5 pounds all the time. Im wondering if there is some finnicky part of the intake that i jostled when i did that or if the boost solonoid is fubard. If so can i just add a mbc??, are there ways to re-furbish the gear? what should i do?

I have done alot of shit to try and fix this, i have removed checked and replaced all the vaccume lines, plugs, plug wires , fuel filter, ect. I am out of ideads and getting frustrated. I have the money to fix it but i dont wanna wast it eliminating possible culprits. I am dissapointed that i have had so many views and so little input.

I was told I could be a medium if I "developed my ability", but the broad didn't mention anything about being clairvoyant. I think it's one of those problems that can't be diagnosed remotely. Have you reset the ECU using the connectors under the dash. In my experience, just unplugging the ECU doesn't work as effectively. The coil pack would be easy to check if you have a current probe and a meter. I would guess you still have a vacuum leak somewhere. Maybe there's an old plastic part that's cracked in a way that's difficult to see. Leakage issues can be a real PITA to find.

well some things have changed on my car int he last few weeks

vf34

wrx topmount

much needed sti mounts
The car seems to still have whatever issue that was causing it to act wierd before. Is alot faster now and sometimes it seems to run perfectly fine. but most of the time it just doesnt wanna go smooth . Its in intermintint issue that has nothing to do with engine temp or the cel that is sometimes on.

There is a vacuum line that runs from the pressure sensor (a little "L" shaped thing that sits above the boost controller) to a "T" connector, one of the off shoots of that connector goes to the charcoal canister and the other goes into the manifold.
Check that line. One of mine came off and I had what sounds like a similar issue... But mine also pulled a CEL.
