Removal of 93 Legacy Wgn crossbars...??

well, i've taken a look at my cross bars on the wgn and its no where like the one i had on my many loyales. is it possible to remove the bars w/o too much trouble?

Yes, it is. I did it on my old 93, but I can't remember exactly what it involved.

I'm sure someone that's done it more recently can pipe in, but I think I had to remove the front caps on the bar, unbolt the front mounts and then slide the crossbars out. Remount the ends and put the caps back on. Looks much better:

well, looked at the rack again and couldnt figure it out so brought it to my subie mechanic who said its not meant to be removed and he would have to go from the inside and remove headliner ect...and it would be a 6 hour labor job! so, what now?

B.S.!! It takes about 15 minutes max. Just like DLC said, pop off the covers, 3 bolts per side, slide the bars out and reassemble.

The hard part is sliding the bars out depending on much use or lack there of they've had.

'tis done! popped off the cover, remove two bolts, unscrew one screw on side and 2 on bottom, repeat for other side, slide front bars off and then rear bars off. reattach and 'voila! will have to talk to my subie guru about this :)
