98 Legacy GT 2.5l Turbo swap
I have a 2.5l 98 legacy automatic with blown head gaskets and I am thinking of buying a motor from a junkyard, adding a turbo and re seal kit. does anyone have any recomedations for which motor I should look for or which would be easiest swap.
It's easy to find a complete 2.5L turbo setup from an 03+ Legacy/Forester/Baja. I believe you'd need pretty much the complete engine/ecu from the turbo car to make it work. You'd also be well-off to get the 4eat or 5eat from one of those cars, or at the very least add a trans cooler to yours.

There's an excellent U-Pull-It in Hazleton, PA:

They also have a lot in Allentown, but it's all older cars. I don't know anything about the one in Pennsburg.

That Hazleton place looks great. $35 transmission specials? My wife better hope to god that I don't wind up down there this weekend

Really? There's a cheap place closer to hear in Buck that I go to occassionally, all the stuff is just on the ground in the dirt. They do have a lift truck that they can come and pick up any car for you, but it takes a while and they're method of parts removal always involves sledge hammers. Needless to say, I don't go there too often for non-interior stuff.

Yeah, that's kind of typical, I think, but Harry's is very organized. I used to drive through Hazleton a lot because I went to school in Ithaca, NY but visited my parents in DC, and it was always such a treat to visit the yard.

Harry's is awesome, but hard to say what they'll have. Sometimes they are picked over, sometimes you find a gem (like an EJ22T for $75). Of course they don't care if we think it's rare or special, it's simply another motor going out the door. You can definitely believe that if I lived much closer (35 miles or less) I'd be there all too often snagging parts!!!
