oil leak

Post by 94legacyturboawd »

I got a pretty bad oil leak coming from the front of the motor as you re laying under it, ahhh oil in the eyes. not the oil pan could it be the cam seals? it leaking onto the exhaust pipe that runs in front of the motor and smokes like a bastid is this a common thing? where the hell is it coming from? its everywhere and its pissing me off

i just got my legacy and it had the same problem. my valve cover gaskes were pure caked on oil from years of ignoring them. i took off the covers and i noticed a lot of oil came through the worn out grommets. they come in the set with the valve cover gaskets, its a pretty straight forward job, just have patience on the driver side, the bolt closest to the firewall will make you want to give up quickly. def clean underneath the car as well as you can with some degreaser to make sure you nailed the leak, oil buildup will still burn off and it will only discourage you :/ good luck.

thats just it thought the valve covers are dry as a bone miraculously, because these motors are notorious for that so ive heard its only a matter of time im sure my car only has 85000 im sure it will be ready to start leaking from the valve covers soon

take the timing covers off and have a peek at the cam seals, it could be it if they are still stock after all these years.

Could also be the front crank seal.
