For Sale: 93 Silver SS for parts (no title)

Post by soobcollektor »

I am slowly working on cleaning up my yard, I have a beautiful 93 SS Sedan with about 128000 miles on it. I bought the car without a title hoping the owner would "find" the title for me which he never did. It needs a transmission (auto) but other than that the car is almost flawless which sucks. It runs absolutely perfect and the turbo is awesome. It has 1st and Reverse.

There is only one small rust spot (scrape) on the passenger door about the size of a quarter. The rest of the car is clean.

I am being forced to sell it for parts because of the no title situation. The car came from Tennesse and I belive thats where the title is. Maybe there is a way to get a duplicate i'm not sure. I just don't want to deal with it and figured it would be a nice car for parts.

I'm open to offers on it, as I really have no idea on pricing for this thing due to the lack of title. If anyone is interested feel free to e-mail me an offer at soobcollektor@hotmail.com

It can be started and heard run, even moved around the transmission is just shot.

I just really need to clean up some of the cars that are sitting around here.

am intrerested in it. blow the motor in my car and this would put it back on the road.

I do buy a few SS's, thing is I try to get them to fellow veterans. the police at the job like them and the wifes of fellow veterans like the awd.

but I am interested in this for me. this would put my 92 SS back together.

your in pa and even as big as it is it is still on the east coast. if still available let me know. thanks for reading this and good luck. bepa

I have a good tranny for this car, I am in PA also. I will give you a good deal on it if it will save the car. Shame to part it out, I am sure there is a way to get a copy of the title.

www.getnewtitle.com

I've used them twice to get titles for vehicles, including my subaru.

It costs $350 bucks and takes about 3 weeks. It's legit.

It looks like it would cost 650 or more since its a 93. I really don't wanna spend any money on it. I really need to get some of the vehicles out of my yard.

If anyone is interested shoot me an offer or maybe i'll throw it up on ebay.

That sucks, just missed the cutoff! If you wait a year the car should fall in the $350 range ;-)

Good luck with the sale.

I don't know the details, but in California you can lien sale it for storage fees. If you bought it from the legal owner there is no chance that they will want it back when the DMV notifies them. Most people never respond, so the DMV defaults a new title to the person that liened it.

I assume most states have something close.

I know of quite a few people in PA who've fallen victim to "I'll find the title sometime after you buy it" situation that couldn't get any help from the DMV. Only guy I know of who was able to do it easily knew a notary.

I don't see why DMVs are so antiquated as to tie the vehicle's existence to a piece of paper, and put an absurdly long and usually expensive process into place for re-issuing said paper, instead of just having the information in a database and being able to print out a proof of ownership document upon verification of identity (which could be done on the day you pick up the car so there's never again an excuse for him to "find it someday").

It's definately harder than you'd think.

I spent months trying to find other avenues to solve my issue. The closest I came was tracking down the last person that the car was titled to several states away. Aside from freaking them out that I was asking about an old car of theirs there wasn't anything they were willing to help with.

as far as I know, in TN it is super easy to get a title.

If you can prove the sale of the car, without a title, I bet you can get a title for it from the TN DMV (mechanics lein, or otherwise).

It's worth looking into.

I have a 93 N/A FWD wagon with a great 4EAT that is otherwise a POS. I'd love to get this SS if it could get a title!!

(that is, if the N/A FWD tranny works in a turbo car,, I assume so!)

Thanks for the pictures Tim. I will run it by the wife and let you know. The 252 miles doesn't really bother me since I have a buddy with a flat bed trailer I am able to borrow.

Ya, PA is a little FUBAR with titles, 'cause EVERYTHING, every little piece of paper regarding any car, is stored in Harrisburg, and someone has to physically go there to retrieve it.
