anyone in oregon dealt with abandon vehicle forms for dmv

Post by mellow65 »

i have an older truck that was left at my place and need/want to do something with it, sell it, scrap it, use it. But to do anything with it i need a title and the owner is long gone. So i talked to dmv and they said you can do an abandon vehicle form. They said I can get it at any dmv. So i went and got the packet, but that is all the help they will give you. They give you like half dozen forms in there and they wont tell you what ones to fill out even if you ask them. They just tell you to read the packet and fill out the right forms. WTF!!!! Just tell me what ones to fill out and I will.

So has anyone ever gone through the process and it worked? Would you be willing to share how you did it? I would be willing to buy the coffee if you can help me through this.

He still has a frame to get rid of and there probably aren't many parts worth saving, I would guess. MA is the same way, the first thing a JY asks you when you call to dispose of a car is if you have the title. They won't take the car without one. My ex's idiot estranged husband bought a 560SEL without a title and now he can't even junk the car, never mind register it. And he thought he got such a great deal. Here, cars built before 1980 can apply for a lost title and a new one can be issued after a VIN check. You can be fined daily for having an unregistered car in sight on your property (if someone complains), but I don't know how to get rid of one without a title.

They don't have all that shit on line? MA does. There's very little you need go to the DMV for anymore.

You have to cut it up into small enough pieces not be recognized as a car and take it to the scrap man. I’ve been there

Or you could just bury it in your back yard.

Of course, but that's a huge PITA. There has to be an easier way otherwise, they'd be encouraging more people to abandon cars on public land, in quarries, etc.

Drag it to the street, then report it as abandoned. How can they prove it was you?
