Jiffy Lube changed my transmission fluid.

Jiffy Lube changed my transmission fluid.
... and now I have the 2nd gear grind syndrome. The problem didn't exist until after I had the fluid changed.
What do you guys think I should do about it?

Yeah. They were having some sort of trouble with the dipstick, but I assumed it was because it's a tight squeeze to get your hand to it under the intercooler. The guy showed me the dipstick and it showed it's full. Should I go check it again?
I used to hear a whine coming from the transmission in 1st and reverse, but that's gone, so I figure they put something back in. lol

I'd check it just to be safe (I'm anal and mistrusting). They might be independently owned, I don't know, but they do have a history of not filling things back up.
Midnight in a Perfect World on Amazon or order anywhere. The first book in a quartet chronicling the rise of a man from angry criminal to philanthropist. Midnight... is a distopic noirish novel featuring 'Duchess', a modified 1990 Subaru Legacy wagon.

Short of putting a garden hose on the dipstick tube, you can't "powerwash" a manual transmission.theflystyle wrote:not entirely sure if the 5mt or 4eat makes a difference, the fluid can me "powerwashed" out.
anyone else with more info?
Sounds like they used shitty fluid. Did they use GL5 fluid? Are you positive? Drain it out and refill with quality fluid. Seriously.
Next time? Don't trust the J-Team.

The receipt says they used GL5.
"GL-5*GOILLIMITED-SLIP80W90"
I checked the fluid level, and it's right at the top dot on the dipstick, so unless there's something wrong with the dipstick, it's topped off.

Why did they use a limited slip oil? You don't have a limited slip differential...
Sounds like they used some craptastic gear oil they get for 1.99 a quart and make 6x profit on.
Drain it out, use good stuff.

Well the thing is I wasn't sure what my 5MT was swapped from. The guy said that some Subaru manual trannies require the limited slip fluid. He said it wouldn't hurt if this tranny didn't need it, so I told him to go with it.
What should I fill it with instead?
