Ok here is the deal. I finally found myself a 91 4 door and i need some help. I need some suggestions on what i should do and what not to do.
first, what are some other top mount that will fit the car. i want to get an intercooler pronto. i read some about the saab 900 intercoolers but i was just wondering on some others.
second, are there any hood scoops that will fit the 91's or do i have to fab up my own, is a bigger hood scoop even that helpful or should i just modify the stock one?
third, suspension.. where do i even start. I don't want something that im worried about in the dirt(mainly because it will be seeing alot of dirt, snow, ect.) but at the same time i don't want something that is tooo high for everyday driving. i just want a good setup for an everyday driver/ occasionally racer.
the plan is for the top mount intercooler, intake, exhaust, (hood scoop if needed), maybe 2.5 heads, and that is it for now. (i plan to build a killer engine in the winter when the racing season settles down.) with just those few mods, roughly... how much of an increase in Hp will the car have. i want a kinda quick street car but not something what i will be wanting to race to work.
Please help, if i forgot something i should do, please tell me.
My 91

Welcome.
The very first thing you should do is search! The answer to all your q's is here, you just need to find it.
Now that you've found the answer to all you technical q's let me ask one of my own. What type of racing are you planning to do w/ this car? Regardless, you'll want to uprade the susp/brakes before adding MOAR POWA! In which case, there're a few options, but the most common are WRX brakes w/ braided satinless lines for the front and KYB AGX's for the struts.
Then you can worry about increasing the length of your... I mean your power output.
BTW, where are you located?

Intercooler: The only really direct-fits are early JDM WRX (slant-style, kinda rare) and Forester/Baja turbo from 06-07. WRX/STI will require component relocation.
Use a boost controller to up the boost on your stock turbo to about 11 psi, that's the most you can go reliably without constantly bumping into the fuel cut @ 13psi, which feels similar to driving into a brick wall...
Search all your questions, most of the info has been thoroughly discussed here, some of it to death
Many components can be upgraded to WRX-spec, just check here for fitment issues before you buy something. Suspension is basically the same as 93-01 Impreza, but your rear strut mounts ('90-'91) are smaller, and you have a different rear trailing arm setup...everything else is interchangeable, and you can change out the rear susp. to later specs if you wish.
Congrats on the new car, and enjoy the trip.

I don't plan on racing the car much. i plan on racing it in some solo races and maybe do some ice racing if possible. this can only happen when im not racing my actual racecar.(dirt sprint cars) i don't want to do any rally races because im too competitive
. if i didn't drive it everyday then i would make it into a rally car. but i just cant afford to fix it after i wreck it. I live in Pueblo, CO, about 100miles south of Denver.
