braille battery

Post by SILINC3R »

thinking about getting a braille batery.

http://braillebattery.com/

if i went with the lightest one. what would be the problem with running this one the small has 527 pulse cranking and 10 amp/hr reserve

my battery now has 8XX cold craning and not sure about the reserve however i now i use it when i work on the car and it will last for a good bit. plus 3 hours before i turn the car off just in case.

the 9 pound has 813 pulse craning and 12 amp/hr reserve

Their not good for daily driving if that's what you have in mind. They won't work well in the cold and you can't just play your radio for hours and expect it not to be drained. Their kind of like camera batteries from what I've heard. They have high energy but only for short periods.

I personally just went with a smaller wet cell battery from a Honda Civic. It was like half the weight but still provided good performance all through winter provided I didn't do anything stupid like leave me lights on and I didn't have a big stereo either so that wouldn't affect it. The grounding kit and gold terminals I installed helped too with the cranking powa.

I had a braille for a couple of years - it worked ok but like GSM said it was for fair weather use only...I'd probably have a summer and winter battery on a daily driver.

IDK, I kinda like the looks of those batteries. They're about the same price as an Optima but way, way smaller and lighter. Saving 25 lbs. or so isn't a bad thing at all IMO.

I have the small Odyssey pc680 in my car and have had no issues with it. I don't have a big stereo in it either. I don't know how the Braille compares to the Odyssey though. I didn't write anything down, but I did weigh the old battery and if I remember right I lost about 15 pounds.
