bmxkemelona- How did you do that rear drive conversion?

Matthew044 - Your converstion must be easily reversible if you can "switch back" for winter. How did you do yours?

Wow, can't believe how slammed that thing is...

I have a lot of respect for someone who can do something different. Have you considered the RX7 knuckle mod? There's a few Impreza guys doing similar stuff to what you've got:

Wow, that'll have to be one built transmission then.

Hahahaha I kid, I kid.

bmx, i like

I was surprised at how low you've got it, nice work

I am thinking about welding my diff for the summer
mranlet from clubwrx.net wrote: The R160 is not capable of handling the toque that even my NA Outback was putting out. In the time that I've had RWD (6+ months) I've destroyed:
1 open R160
1 welded R160
1 WRX VLSD
4 R160 axles
2 rear differential covers (twisted them apart)

In addition, the thrust forces caused by the helical cut stepper gears are sure to butcher anything in the transfer case/rear half of the transmission. When shifting hard into 2nd or clutch kicking the steppers disengage a little bit and the upper gear pushes itself right into the back of the center differential. So, to add to the list of carnige:
1 stepper gear set
1 <98 center differential
1 rear transmission housing
1 center bearing
mind talking about your rear end experience?

when i 1st went rwd i had the r160 in the back still but open.
did a few good one tire fires and weakened the spider gears (even broke a few)
welded that diff soild and broke all the welds twice (i think it was because of the weakened spider gears)

But i have been on the same welded r160 for about half a year now with no issues

as for axles, ive broken 6 last summer and this one so far.
most of the broken axles were from them being pulled out of the cup because of how low i am so the cv joint was at max range.
i now have a custom diff mount to tuck the diff up 2.5" (helping to keep the axles in a straighter line) and it seems to be a lot better
