You're going to hate me, but Sparkling Metallic Gunmetal Pearl.

A few shades darker than this:

I vote the gunmetal grayish color and paint the stupid trim too, chome and all. But leave the black trim around the windows and you should do a black roof to match the trim! That's what I want to do.

BTW, nice choice with that skyline color but I agree a bit darker would be nice.

....with a black roof!

I hate to say it but I don't think white wheels will go well with grey or black.

Paint the wheels too! Paint them black! To match your black roof, of course. You got dark tinted windows? That'd match your roof too!

If I go with a black roof, I'll just get a vinyl cut out for it. Cheaper and more durable ;)

As for the wheels, I have a feeling that they'll actually look okay with the paint. If not, I'll get them powdercoated in hyperblack.

If you were going to go with vinyl, might as well try to get some of those rear window louvres they used to have on Datsun Z's and F-body GMs, too.

HA HA! Or on the back of 80's ford pickups with tailgate spoilers and a big sticker of Azatlan warriors carressing the baby Jesus......

Sweet little babay Jesus.....

And personally........I'd remove the trim for paint, and color match all the chrome but leave the black, black.

It was a joke about when vinyl roofs were in fashion and the other accessories of the day. My 1974 260Z had a vinyl roof and louvres. And was avocado green. That's definitely a color you DON'T want to consider.

I like the idea of color-matching the chrome and keeping the trim black. I don't think that would work with every color (like my blue), but that would look real nice with the gray.

Thats what I wanted to do with the red, but I had a hard time finding thick enough striping tape in that matched perfectly.

Yeah, that would be nice with red. Actually, I wonder how the red stripe would look on the dark gray. Might be a really nice accent. Or could be too much and ruin the subtlety of the gunmetal.

That's not a bad idea! I wanted a black roof but I don't want to repaint it. I think I'm gonna do that when I get a couple more bucks.

Did you go with the color on the first page? That color looks awesome. I like black on these cars too, much better than the kind of darker silver color of the evo.

The vinyl roof would be nicer on a wagon. Then you could cover the rear side windows, too, and add a landau bar (they used to sell them at JC Whitney years go. Don't know if they still do).

I honestly don't think a black roof would look that bad, especially since I have tinted windows. I see plenty of Bimmers and cars of the like with black vinyl on the roof.

Gah, I wanna see my car. I miss her. I made the mistake of quoting Anchorman in front of my girlfriend the other day. I said, "that drunk, Asian woman destroyed the only thing that I love." I received a cold, hard stare accompanied by a dropped jaw and did NOT get anything that night. Hahahahaha.

Steve - I think that we may each be thinking of two types of vinyl. Are you thinking of the vinyl that goes on older cars and makes them have that convertible look?

This is what I'm talking about:

My girlfriend hates it when I quote movie lines. I guess it's a guy thing that women don't understand. Unless it's Anchorman or Borat, she hates it. She still gets annoyed when she doesn't recognize anchorman quotes but she loves that movie so I usually get away with it. Borat is pretty hard to miss as long as you got his accent down.

I was playing Left4Dead the other night and all the guys in the server were talking like Borat the whole time and it was hilarious.

How much is this vinyl and where does one get it at? Also, how is it applied. I'm interested if it's cheap....probably not though.

It's actually pretty cheap. You can get a 4' x 4' square of it for $40 or a 4' x 5' square for $50 shipped to your door. It's easy to apply as well. You spray your roof with soapy water, lay the vinyl down and then squeegee it out. My friend did it to his car. It even looks great around his sunroof!

Quick search on google came up with this thread.

http://tl.acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=710098

Says in that thread the guy bought some 3M vinyl product for $60 and 4 hours later he had that sick vinyl roof.

Is this the vinyl you're talking about?
