Error codes - Injectors, MAF and O2

Post by wtdash »

I've had some recurring engine issues the last few weeks where the engine will just die. A couple times while idling, a couple times while accelerating, and 2 times when coming to a stop/slowing down @ an intersection. I've also had it cut-out for a brief second, but continue running.

Car always starts right back up and NO CEL.

After doing some WOT runs last nite w/the car running well - didn't die once- the CEL comes on but the car continues to run fine.

Back @ the house I brought out the laptop, started the new Revscan software and pulled the codes:
Error 14-17 for Injector #1-4 (history)
Error 23 - MAF Sensor(history)
Error 32 - O2 sensor(history)

The injector errors may be left over from when I had bad injectors a few weeks back....I can't recall if I cleared/reset the codes or not.

But I've read and Lee/Skid542 confirms that the MAF could cause these symptoms.

Also, the O2 sensor isn't working right as the voltage doesn't change, but doubt it would cause the car to stall.

Anyone think the Bosch O2 sensors are OK? They're avl. locally for $50 and I don't have time to order one....leaving for VACA tomorrow.

I've got another JECs MAF (Revtronix chip) I can try, plus try a new 02 sensor.

Thanks for any feedback!

I'd suspect that the power to the injectors is intermittently getting lost.

First thing to do though is to clear the old codes then go for a drive.

Putting it into diagnostic mode is a quicker way to find intermittent problems although in this case it sounds like the problem will be easy to reproduce anyway.

i was having a problem with my car not idling correctly. Stalling at lights and WOT. Watched my O2 reading and they would bounce all around while driving but at idle it would sit at .02V. MAF was between .8-1.2V. Installed the MAF you send me and O2 started stiwching at idle. I was also running 29% fuel trim with the old MAF installed.

That's good to hear!

I swapped the MAF and installed the Bosch universal sensor.. the wiring info isn't clear and I got it wrong the 1st time....car wouldn't even run.

But the idle is much better, smoothest it's been in weeks. And NO CODES after a 15 minute drive.

I'm guessing the injector codes were related to the failure of the MAF/O2?

I'm headed to Seattle tonite...we'll see how it does.

I'd suspect the MAF. Symptoms sound similar to the issues I had when my MAF pooped.

After my weekend trip of 900+ miles the idle is still good (O2), and it hasn't died/skipped a beat (MAF). :-)

Hi,
This post is almost 10 years old! :D ...I don't recall what I bought but they haven't changed much. Buy whatever 3 or 4 wire ( I also don't recall) sensor matches your wiring. But make your life easier and just get one w/the correct plug like This on Amazon.
