When doing a sti 6sp swap in a '91 turbo legacy 5mt. What all is necessary to make it work. Trany, drive shaft, front axels, flywheel, clutch, but what else.....
Thanks for any info.

I have a 6 speed swap in my '91 SS. I don't have access to my parts list right now, but remember a few things. I used an '06 STi.
Use an automatic driveshaft, think mine came from a '94 Legacy.
Stock '91 SS driveshafts
Stub shafts to fit into the tranny
3.54 lsd rear end from an '02 WRX
used the flange off of the '91 lsd rear diff
aftermarket DCCD controller
ACT clutch
STi flywheel
various seals and other stuff I can't remember off hand. Il'll post it on here when I get a chance.

why would u swap to a 3.54 rear end, the sti uses a 3.90 rear end just like the '91 turbos... and what about the front cv axels, i didnt quite understand..

Because that variant of the STi uses a 1.1:1 reducer gear at the center differential just like the WRX does.logan9691 wrote:why would u swap to a 3.54 rear end, the sti uses a 3.90 rear end just like the '91 turbos... and what about the front cv axels, i didnt quite understand..
However, if you get an '07 or newer STi you can just use your stock 3.9 rear end.

IIRC, the '04 and '05 STIs also used the 3.9:1 rear gear.(?)
Was '06 a bastard year?
Also, '08+ won't have the spot to put your speedo cable or sensor. Those cars had all speed derived from the ABS sensors and the sensor/cable spot was removed from the transmission casting.
