I need to know what the max. size tires (height&width) that factory
wheels can handle. I have some nice tires off my truck for the
winter and dont want to buy new ones, I believe they are 215 70 15,
let me know if you have any info that would help
thanks

Tire size question
Seems to me that a 215 would need a 7 inch wide rim. Other than that your
car will accelerate at a much lesser rate with tires of such a large
diameter.

Tire size question
Acceptable rim width for a 215/70r15 if 5.5-7.0 inches
so width is not your problem, the height maybe....for
example if your Sube came with 195/60r15's the stock
OD was 24.3 inches for the Bridgestrone RE92's, the OD
of a 215/70r15 is 27.1 inches if they don't rub on
sheet metal you've still changed the suspension
geometry so handling will be affected, also and the
techs in the group maybe can answer this but it is
more than a 5% change in OD and may adversely affect
the ABS system.

I'd personally wouldn't run them. That is quite a hike in overall diameter. It will most likely affect how the ABS & speed sensors interpret things, which could cause undesirable affects.
Just get some snow tires
