Personally, I disagree with a lot of what adam says, i also disagree with
seemingly every post of his turning into an advetisement for his tuning
facility.
I also disagree with a tuning shop asking questions on how to do things -
i'm not getting paid to help his company; he should be putting in the time
on his own. If a tuning facility is asking ME for advice on how to make
something work or if something will fit; then i expect some sort of
consultant reimbursement for my knowledge that will potentially generate
large profits for someone elses facility.
Yes, the intercooler from a USDM 2002 Subaru Impreza WRX will fit in the
engine bay. Yes, it requires some custom hoses to be made to make it work
with our stock turbo.

I never said the turbo won't work, nor did I said the USDM WRX intercooler
wouldn't work. In fact I referred to a thread on i-club where a Leagcy Turbo
owner had fitted one, and I know of a few people here who have done it as
well.
In reference to the WRX turbo (USDM) fitting on a Legacy turbo, again I
referred to the same i-club post. I also stated that it would rquire a 90
degree elbow on the USDM WRX turbo in order to mate up with the standard
Legacy turbo intake.....or a custom intake pipe.
Lastly, the questions I have asked the members here about the Legacy were in
specific reference to my own car...not a customer car. if you are somehow
under the impression that I ahve "taken" knowledge and somehow profitted from
it, I have not. As you are probably well aware, there is exactly a large
market out there for BC-BF parts and accessories. All I ahve done is simply
ask questions about people who have owned the car longer than I have; in
return, I have provided any and all information I have learned from our Japan
contacts, etc. in terms of parts available, in addition to what I have
personally discovered as having worked or not worked.
And lastly, if you been that by advertising I have our website listed in my
signature line, then I apologize - it has been removed for purposes of this
list.
On a final note, I am not particularly interested if you agree or disagree
with my assesments. And for the record I don't take offense that you do
disagree...that is your right and it is one of the purposes of the list - for
everyone to contribute information they know, and have other squestions it,
or present alternative theories, in hopes of assisting others with their
question(s).

Based on the pictures I've seen and from what I remember the 2002 WRX engine
bay looking like the new intercooler is bigger than the 93-96 WRX intercooler
and is not slanted. I'm worried that my turbo coolant tank (which I don't
want to re-locate) will get in the way of the new style intercooler. I
really want to keep things somewhat simple and don't want to start messing
with that coolant tank. I've seen picture of the 93-96 intercooler with the
coolant tank in it's standard spot which is encouraging. Do you guys know if
the coolant tank presents a problem with the 2002 WRX intercooler? Also I'd
really appreciate it if someone could give me the part# for the 93-96 WRX
intercooler. Doesn't anyone have it?

Fred - I am not sure what the part # is, though we can easily get used ones.
On the 93-96 IC, you need to cut off one of the mounting tabs (drivers side) in order to have the coolant tank fit in the OEM location. I chose to leave the tab and simple rotatwed the coolant bottle 180 degrees so though it now only has one mounting screw (vs 2 stock) is holds well and there is room enough for the IC mounting on either side
On a 2002, the coolant tank will definately need to be moved...not hard to do, just another step!
