need to get tricky.

Post by gijonas »

Ok so ever since I finished my car and while using the revtronix stage 2 chip I have had this issue.Until the car is warmed up I have to deal with lean hesitation, always exactly the same, always goes away, very predictable and very consistent.I have come to be used to this but am sick of it at the same time..it has to stop!

Now i realize this is due to the chips tuning.I dont want to throw bigger injectors in that may solve the issue while causing it to be richer all the time, and i am not able to afford standalone right now (or any other managment). So my question is does anyone know of anyway i can trick my ecu during warm up to get over this issue? I am wondering about somehow altering the temp sensor signal or something along those lines but the thing is the solution needs to only be in effect for the first 5-10 minutes after startup.

And BTW the AFR during this time is bouncing around between 16:1 - 17+:1

i've seen guys put a variable resistor in place of the coolant temp sensor. you just dial it up to whatever resistance/temperature you want. this does work, but is a hack job if you ask me....

Yeah, the only problem i see with that is the fact that its always set to that temp right?

no, it's a rheostat. basically an arched coil with a contact that sweeps across the coil making the coil longer or shorter. the guy i was referring to did it to a z31 (300zx) as a "get me by". The CHTS is buried in a 300zx, and takes a fair amount of time to change out (speaking from experience)....

What version is your stage 2? The ver 2 chip fixed the lean warmup issue...

Yeah that's what I thought,I do have the second version and although better the problem is still there.I have no intention of trying to resolve this with revtronix, even if they were still in existence lol.

Yeah, I'd put a potentiometer in between as a temporary fix. You'll have to fuss with it as the temp comes up, but it's better than nothing. You just need to match one to the range of the coolant temp sensor. I'd check the range with a pot of water on the stove.
