Where did you get the gussets, or did you make em? What did you do w/ the fuel lines where the front of the A-pillar tube mounts?

Made em' its thin sheet metal, bent around the tube by hand in a vise. Fuel lines are moved inboard slightly. I might redo them, if they turn out to be in the way of my feet.

Hacked the dash up to fit into and around the cage. Poor dash...

Mounted the 6mt shifter and am trying to find a good spot for the hydro handbrake. I think I need to hang the trans and connect the shifter so I can tell exactly where the gears will be so I can get the handbrake placement perfect.

Still need to paint, but first the handfull or random brackets need to be welded in...

Now that I have the 6mt I have 2 5mt's and a rear diff for sale

Nice score on the 6mt. I would put Extra-S in it to alleviate possible grinding.

What are you going to do about knuckles and brakes?

You should leave the turning-brake lever where it is in the pic and fab up an offset/taller gear lever.

THAT is a great idea actually. Having the shift lever closer to the wheel would really be beneficial too.

Knuckles and brakes... are staying stock. Gotta have 15in wheels for the rally tires. I really really want to use the r180 but I can't justify spending 600 dollars for spec-b axles.

The Spec-B axles don't really work due to their length.

Hybrids are also not possible. I learned the hard way. Run an R160 with a good diff and you'll be fine. (Cusco RS, cough). Otherwise, you need Brembos, Subaru 2 pots, or redrilled SVX stuff. A good friend runs SVX stuff to use 15" wheels....

Thanks Mike, tonight I hung that 6mt. !!! it's heavy, 5mt I could do myself. Not this beast. Got the shifter attached and decided on a place for the handbrake. Just made the little bracket and now I'm about to weld it on. I'll drive it out to Seattle one of these days...

Did a little more work today. Hot garages are no fun to work in. Motivation is LOW when temps get high.

Hacked the upper dash to fit the cage, finalized the hydro hand brake location, decided where to mount the battery, got discouraged looking at the wiring mess.

I decided to bail on the Sti struts. There is no way they will hold up to rally. AGX's are a joke. I have blown the shit out of the set on my Touring wagon. I'm going to get JVL's bilsteins.

I have these struts on my Legacy and they are amazing on a gravel road. Also John is great to deal with, highly recommended.

He asked me to determine what my car weighs, but I have no idea. Is yours caged? What is it's weight?

Your cage looks awesome. I might be building a rally cage later this season, we'll see.

I gotta say though - Your shoulder harness mounts are pretty scary, the mounts are waaaaaay too far down . Other than that, everything looks really good! Great score on the 6MT too!

They are & they aren't. Although they wrap around a bar that's at shoulder height, the fact that they're actually mounted near the floor leaves a lot of dangerous slack, and allows for more belt stretch than you would want in a wreck. If you can mount the shoulder belts directly to the "harness bar", you'll be tons safer. :)

Ok gotcha. That was sort of the aim, to have the stretch. But I definitely don't want to nail the steering wheel.

Hey sorry it took so long. I don't have the actual weight but I would guess between 3150-3300lbs. I think he needs to know for the dampening and rebound specs, I can give you the ones off of my struts if you want. Then he can just match it with the spring rates
