Re: STI Group N Mounts
Yeah what he said ^ . I got mine used from NASIOC. I would suggest trolling the FS section day and night searching for Goup N Mounts until you find a set of used ones. Save a lot of $$$ this way.

It'll definitely feel more solid. You'll also have more NVH.

Re: STI Group N Mounts
Guess what I finally got today
My question before I try and install them is, can I use the new mount bracket that came with the engine mounts?
or do i just use the original ones?

Re: STI Group N Mounts
Well I am an idiot
I thought that I was just going to be able to swap the transmission mount no problem well dumb @ss me for got that my car is only front wheel drive and of course the the mount is very different! well there goes that I guess all have to hold onto it until I do my AWD swap! I did get the Pitch stop mount in, that wasn't hard swapped right in! I haven't noticed much of a difference besides theres lot more noise, who knew my old mount was so worn out it look good hahah

Re: STI Group N Mounts
Yeah, there will be more noise. You should use the new metal brackets that came with the sti mounts.

Re: STI Group N Mounts
I have been reading a lot more about these on other forums, and people that I talk to are saying that they wont make much of a difference! is this true? they say that unless your putting out a substantial amount of power they wont benefit you much.

Re: STI Group N Mounts
You should sell me the trans mounts, lol. My thoughts are: with the age of these cars, the original rubber mounts have degraded enough that these (or brand new standard ones) will make a noticeable difference. One thing about your situation is you're running new engine and factory tranny mounts so you probably won't feel as big a difference as if you did that one too.
My SS came with these silly gel filled mounts, so by the time I purchased the car they had snapped in half! Not having the cash, I used solid mounts from a 98 forester.
I've also heard that the group "n" mounts last about 5 years, as in they lose their stiffness, and function like normal used mounts afterwards. This coming from Nasioc from a couple sources.

Re: STI Group N Mounts
No kidding, but then again its not like rally cars last 5 years hahaha so they probably didn't design them for longevity!!!!

They don't lose their stiffness. That's a bunch of nasioc bs.

Re: STI Group N Mounts
Well I got the engine and pitch stop mounts in as of this weekend, and have driven about a hundred miles on them. So far i think there a big improvement, I still have a week transmission mount though, but I will have that one in as soon as I do my AWD swap! All in all though the noise isn't that bad and everything feels a lot tighter, I think these are a worth while investment.

Re: STI Group N Mounts
I didn't notice a difference from the stock fwd mounts myself when I swapped in my turbo engine. The turbo also had the crappy gel filled ones that were blown out.

Re: STI Group N Mounts
Dang! really? I felt a difference and my mounts weren't all the way bad. I had a few cracks in mine but if you had the gel filled ones that were blown, and you replaced them with group N mounts I would think you should have felt a massive difference! Thats very Interesting!evolutionmovement wrote:I didn't notice a difference from the stock fwd mounts myself when I swapped in my turbo engine.
