R.I.P 94 SS

Post by ericem »

As some people know I got into a pretty big accident. Ill describe what happened around 9pm last night. I was going south on keele left lane, and there was a odyssey ahead of me in the right lane suddenly slowed down and pulled a u turn and I t boned him. He actually attempted a uturn infront of a island too!! I was doing around 80km/h police suggest I was doing less. I actually hit the side of his car and spun him around hitting the side of my car as well so I got hit twice technically. Other driver was charged careless driving.

Just looking around the car after we hit was unbelievable could never imagine my car in this shape. It looks worse than it is, rear doors still opened by handle, and driver side door opened but I was kind of week so I just jumped out the passenger side window. I remember people coming out of the nearby buildings coming out omg is the guy in the silver car alright!!!!!!! Im right here....

Another funny note accident happened directly infront of statefarm (my insurance).

WOW!!! Glad you're okay!

While it's sad that your ss was destroyed, it's good you were in it because the Legacies really protect you in a crash.

I'm not sure how insurance companies in Canada compensate the owner of a totaled car, but in the US some insurance companies will accept photos of improvements made with aftermarket parts and add compensation for it since they must replace the totaled car with one of equal value.

Take care. Hope you find a good replacement ss.

HOLY SHIT! That's a hell of a speed, too. These cars are tanks. A new one might have faired with less damage to the passenger area, but that's a pretty high speed and none of that matters as long as you walk away. Good thing you're alright. Surprised only your ankles are sore. The shifter's popped out, so the drivetrain worked as designed to go backwards and under the car rather than into the passenger compartment. Years ago, I heard first hand of another account where the car saved a girl's life. Some drunk dipshit was going the wrong way down the highway and hit a girl in a Legacy head on, spun off, and hit an Escort. The three people in the Escort were killed and the girl walked away with some bruises and such. Heard of the accident on the news a few days before and happened to be at a dealership while the father was explaining to the salesman why he was buying his daughter a new Subaru. The rescue crew attributed the drivetrain diving under the car for what saved her while the Escort's drivetrain became a fourth passenger.

Hope you don't get screwed by the insurance—they should be thankful they don't have to be paying out on hospital bills, rehab, etc. . . hm, are you SURE you don't have whiplash and back pain?

Thanks guys I feel so bad for the car, when I got out I was just saying OMG! MY CAR MY CAR didn't even go look at the guy I t-boned who was unconscious possibly seriously injured but he did survive they had to cut open his van. I just couldn't believe how bad it looked on the outside. Inside was horrible to look at but in reality the cage stayed together and did not cave in just on the passenger side.

Remember I was hit maybe 2-3 times. When I hit the van he went spinning and when he spun he hit the passenger side.

I wouldn't have cared two shits about the asshole either. If that was Duchess, especially after I finally get her back on the road, it would have taken all my inner strength to not wrench his door open myself and finish the job she didn't. There are about 7 billion people in this world and I figure I have no time for tolerance or sympathy for the stupid and their lives mean less to me than an old car, than the stuff I throw in a recycling bin.

On high school graduation night in my old GL, I hit an idiot who took a last minute left turn in front of me at an intersection (turned out to be some fat girl who was in my class in a hurry to get to some party, but she was in the stupid classes so I never knew her), ripped off her bumper, and spun her around, but the thought of her or her passenger friend's welfare didn't enter my mind as I kicked the dent out of the fender and smiled knowing I was in the right and my car kicked ass with very little damage. So, if you feel at all bad about it, you can know that there are far angrier, misanthropic people out there (even with all the meditation I've been doing for the last few months) and IMO is a perfectly natural reaction. Of course, I'd feel different if the accident were my fault as I imagine you would.

WOW, Definitely glad to here your ok. Can't exactly just find another SS the next day on CL. I hope insurance is alot nicer to you than they were to me.

Stupid Talon ran a red @ 90km/h and T-boned my old 5MT SDN , wasn't wearing my belt. Car moved as I stayed still , throwing it's windsheild into my skull. I woke up on the curb after I apparently got out and ran down the road for some reason. Blood spraying out my head onto my brand new fancy embroidered cowboy shirt :( Cops reported speed was definitely a factor and I was obviously going about 5 Km/h. 2 years of lawyers battling since no one had stayed to say they witnessed him running the red and it was deemed my fault, I was compensated with $12K which just paid the extra insurance I had to pay over the next 4 years. Another 2 more years of meetings and he settled for just under $400 000 because it apparently crushed his aspiring dreams of possibly becoming a firefighter. :smt021

As angry as I have been for the 6 years that I have past, I guess I just have to be thankful I didn't pull out another 2-6' or my wife and possibly sister would have been killed.

But Still. Im fucking PISSED !!! Im gonna get up right now and march down to my fridge right now and calm myself down :smt030

That's basically all I can do unless I become a Terrorist/Murderer , put me in a room with that guy and would be doing life , no wait, this is Canada. 5 years maybe ....... Still not worth it, I guess

OK :smt076 ......................... Rant over.

Geezus!!!! And I thought it looked bad with the hood closed. I would hate to see my car like that and if I was in you're position I would be doing the look at old pictures to now thing while depressed. Other than you're ankle was anything else sore or anything? If not thats pretty impressive to just walk away from it all.

man talk about one hard hit. happy you survived! these subaru's are literally life savers on wheels. ive recked one of these subaru's before when i was younger over a stupid reason which i still to this day kick my self for, i was racing some kid in an interga down a hill and as he slowed down for the corner i hit it full on cause there was no way i was going to be beat by a honda (tipical kid) . well my lesser judgment got the better of me and my tires broke free in the rear so i had to counter steer sevrell times to regain control. the last fish tail the car was heading tward oncoming trafic, with a split second dicession i chose to sacrific the car or my self to not hurt others / kill someone elt. i aimed the car for a light poll with a cement base at 75/ 80mph and thought oh man this is gonna hurt! the car landed about 25 -30 feet from where i hit the poll. i walked away with no injurys, a lesson learned and personal shame that i chose to be reckless on public roads.

i have a pic if anyones interested.

to this day i still drive a subaru..
