Hello ALL! new here with a 93 Subaru Legacy L Wagon

Hello like the title says I just got a 1993 Legacy for $900 for winter. It has 220,000 miles on it and will need a new clutch soon(can here the pilot baring going). other then that nothing to major wrong with her. I am new with Subaru i normaly buy Honda's I currently have a 2006 Honda Civic Si. I could not pass up this price for a car in short notice. If anyone could give me some pointers or if their is something i should keep an eye out for please let me know. I'm sure i'll be on here for awile asking crazy questions but please barewith me

You will be amazed at the simplicity and durability of these cars. You have many years of "winter beatings" left in this car. Welcome to the site. Its a treasure trove of good technical information.

I would never put money into a FWD car, RWD maybe.
Never understood the honda thing but to each his own.

no fwd burn outs when you go up a snowy road.lol all traction. tons of fun. nice suby. the intior is clean. welcome to the bbs. have fun with it.

i have a 94 and my clutch has been slipping for alot of miles. shes good. i can hear my bearing too. loud till you push in the clutch. a few cheap mods i did is a off brand magnaflow muffler and airbox mod. and mud flaps of course. lol there info for days on this site. its not nasiac or what ever, i get lost on that site. but the peeps here are a cool croud and know a grip about this gen of subaru.

do you have any pictures of the mud flaps? where did u get them?

i got them a baxter auto parts. any auto parts store should have them. there pickup/suv one that i trimed a little. but they came with hardware. they were $8.99 for a pair so if they got ripped off i wouldent be out too much. Image Image

on my air box i took out the filter and used a 4 inch hole drill to get some better air flow from the bottom of the box. big difference on sound when i floor it. its not that hoaky, it works and you cant even see it. Image

As you can see this radio space w/ pocket is 2.5 din and there are no dash kits for this car. You can buy a 2.5 din pocket for 70$ via Dealer i said no thank you and fabbed up something easy

That's the input shaft bearing. Just in case you were thinking it's the throw out bearing.

Throw out bearing would make noise with the clutch pedal in because that's when it's engaged.

Good luck with your subi! I totally fell in love when I bought my 90 legacy L and had to go find me one of those fancy turbo rigs I heard so much about. ... Now its almost like i'm married.
